Stories & STEM

This summer, the library was filled with laughter, questions, and bright ideas as children gathered for Stories in STEM, a program where books and science come together to spark curiosity.

Each week, kids explored new STEM adventures through storybooks that connect science to everyday life. From mixing and bubbling chemistry to the wonders of biology to the creativity of engineering, every session offered something fresh and exciting.

In one highlight, children dove into Every Day Chemistry by Julia Sooy. As the story unfolded, they discovered how science is not just in textbooks. It is alive in the kitchen, glowing in the garden, and happening all around us. Wide-eyed and eager, the children leaned in, making connections between storytelling and the excitement of real-world science.

At its heart, Stories in STEM is about more than reading. It is about planting seeds of wonder, showing kids that STEM belongs to everyone, and helping them imagine themselves as the next scientists, engineers, and innovators.

This initiative is part of Youth for STEM Equity’s mission: to make science accessible, relatable, and joyful for every child. By blending storytelling with STEM, we are building not only knowledge, but also confidence and creativity.

We are proud to celebrate the success of these summer sessions and the amazing curiosity of the kids who joined us. If you stopped by the library, you would see what we see: future problem-solvers lighting up with excitement, one story at a time.
